Why wasn't it released? It took too long to get to the action. These days, such a film, with a lot of explanatory footage, would be the norm, back in the 1990s, it was more a Roxette approach - 'Don't bore us, get to the chorus!'

Batman Forever was indeed a Warner Bros film. I've made a small edit to make sure it's clear that film wasn't New Line.
